Gillette Abuse Refuge Foundation’s Annual Chuckle For Charities Talent Search Is On!

The time has come once again for those of us at the Gillette Abuse Refuge Foundation (GARF) to begin planning for our hilarious annual fundraiser, Chuckle for Charities. This year’s event will take place from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 3, 2018 at the Cam-Plex Energy Hall.

Got talent?

Currently, we are seeking upbeat, hilarious, non-offensive comedy acts in the 3-5 minute range.

We at GARF invite you, your friends, family and co-workers to present your silliest, craziest, funniest, talent act, song, or performance at our upcoming charity event!

Compete to give back

Up to six comedic acts will compete for our grand cash prize of $1,000 to be donated to your local charity of choice, and the honor of hosting GARF’s Chuckle for Charities’ coveted First Place Traveling Trophy all year long!

All donated cash prizes will range from $125 to $1000 with Second Place receiving $500 to donate, Third Place collecting $250 to donate, and all other participants being awarded $125 for their charity of choice — just for contributing their time and talents!

The truth about domestic violence

Every day in the United States, an estimated 4 women are murdered by their domestic partners. More than 10 million people, women, children, and men, are victims of domestic violence each year. Even within our small community, we’ve witnessed the devastating reality that domestic violence often hits close to home with the tragic murder of Kayleen Welch, allegedly by her own husband.

A bit about us

GARF has been in Campbell County for 36 years helping people to leave violent domestic situations and empower themselves to live a life free from violence. Over 10,000 people have come through our doors and we have to believe that by providing free and confidential services such as our Safe House, by helping people to obtain protection orders, and so much more, that we have prevented this horrific tragedy for some victims.

It has been a rough year economically for Campbell County, and GARF, like other agencies, is trying to weather severe funding cuts from several sources. But, we will always fight to keep our doors open and offer free, safe, and confidential services to everyone.

Can your sense of humor help us to continue to make a difference in the lives of those we serve?
